How to use

  1. Drop your photo

Add one JPEG, PNG or WebP file. Your browser reads it directly — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

  2. Grid mode opens on 3×3

This page starts you on the classic 3×3 profile-grid layout. Switch to a preset like 1×3 for a carousel, or type in your own row and column counts for a different layout.

  3. Check the live preview

Cut lines are drawn directly over your photo so you can see exactly where each tile will be cut, along with the tile count and pixel size.

  4. Split, then upload in the right order

Download each tile individually or grab all of them as a ZIP. For a grid, Instagram shows your newest post first, so upload the tiles back to front — piece 9 first, piece 1 last. A carousel is the opposite: keep the pieces in normal left-to-right order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn one photo into a 3×3 Instagram grid?

Drop your photo in — this page already has the grid layout set to 3×3, so you don’t need to change anything. Split it, then post starting from the bottom-right tile (piece 9) and finish with the top-left tile (piece 1). Because your profile grid shows the newest post first, posting back to front is what makes the finished 3×3 picture line up correctly once all nine are live.

What photo size works best for a 3×3 grid?

Start from a square or 3:4 source image that’s at least 3000px on the wide side. That leaves each of the nine tiles with enough resolution after the split, and gives you some headroom no matter how Instagram happens to crop the grid preview on a given day — its on-screen grid ratio has changed more than once.

Does this tool crop my photo to match Instagram’s grid ratio?

No. It slices your source image into exact pixel tiles at whatever grid you choose — for 3×3 that’s nine equal squares of the original. It doesn’t add any extra crop of its own to match how Instagram happens to display the grid on screen, since that’s decided by the Instagram app and has changed over time. That’s exactly why starting from a generously sized square or 3:4 photo is the safer bet.

Can I use a layout other than 3×3?

Yes — the grid isn’t locked to 3×3. Type your own row and column counts, or pick another preset: 1×3 or 1×2 for a carousel, 2×3 for a shorter grid, or 4×4 for a bigger one.

Can I check where the cuts will land before I split?

Yes — as soon as a photo is loaded, cut lines are drawn directly over it in a live preview, along with the exact pixel size of every tile, so you can confirm the layout before running the split.

Does my photo leave my device at any point?

No. It’s read and cut entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API — there’s no upload step, and a tile only becomes a downloadable file once you click download. Nothing is stored on a server, and closing the tab clears everything.
